Fight for Client’s Rights

Attorney Sternberg worked to become a lawyer to fight for individual rights and resolve conflicts. After thirty-four years in private practice, these are still the causes that motivate him. He still receives the greatest satisfaction out of righting a client who was wronged or resolving a client's conflict, whether it is trial or negotiations. In these tough economical times, there is nothing better than, at the end of the day, having helped a family save their home or obtained for them the compensation they are entitled to.

Mentor, OH Divorce & Custody Attorney

David Sternberg has appeared in courts throughout Ohio, but the majority of his practice is in Lake, Cuyahoga, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties. In his family law and divorce cases he has aided a father in obtaining custody where the mother had taken the children and attempted to go underground, and defending mother and children from abusive fathers. His practice is not exclusive to men or women. Counselor Sternberg feels comfortable representing either wife or husband.

In today’s environment the issue of custody is often fought out in juvenile court. This is true were the parents are not married. Attorney Sternberg has appeared before the juvenile courts in Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake and Portage Counties. The issues in these cases are very similar to those found in divorces.

Bankruptcy Lawyer serving Cleveland Ohio

Representing individuals has given Lawyer Sternberg the opportunity to aid his clients facing financial difficulties. In these troubling times, he has assisted his clients in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings. Such representation has included issues as to whether a debt is dischargeable and retention of property. These sometimes lead to an adversary proceeding within the bankruptcy case.

Mediation in Foreclosure Proceedings

The Ohio Supreme Court has endorsed the use of mediation in foreclosure proceedings. The Common Pleas Courts have adopted procedures for mediation and have staff mediators. Attorney Sternberg has represented individuals in mediation obtaining loan modifications. This form of alternative dispute resolution has saved many homes and helped avoid bankruptcies.

Ohio Workers’ Compensation Law

In representing individuals, lawyer Sternberg has protected the rights of workers injured in the performance of their job. He has helped workers have their claim initially allowed, obtain additional allowances, receive treatment, and compensation. Under the Ohio Workers’ Compensation Law a injured worker is entitled to many forms of compensation: temporary total disability (lost wages also known as TT), permanent partial disability (compensation for the residual injury to the body); working wage lost, non-working wage lost and permanent total disability. These cases also sometimes include discrimination suits against employer where it has discriminated against an employee because he or she filed a workers’ compensation claim. In a limited number of case where a employer has created an intentional risk to the worker there is a right to additional compensation in what is referred to as an intentional tort.

Lake County Ohio Injury Attorney

The talents used in representing injured workers are used in representing those who have been inured is car accidents, slip/falls, dog bits and by other negligent acts. Remember accidents don’t just happen. Whereas no one intends to injure another person, it is only though their carelessness by act or omission that someone is injured. The law properly holds them responsible.

Prior to becoming an attorney, David J. Sternberg worked his way though undergraduate school by loading trucks, washing dishes and being a waiter. During his last years of college he worked as a bookkeeper, and he built econometric models for a large national corporation. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and work experience has given David a unique understanding of the issues facing individuals.
