Family Law

Compassionate, Effective Family Law Attorneys - Northeast Ohio

Our Philosophy: Friendly Settlement Whenever Possible, Forceful, Aggressive Litigation When Necessary

In a family conflict, the best results are usually achieved if the dispute can be resolved through amicable negotiation between the parties. Respectful negotiation most often results in an agreement that allows the parties to remain in much better control of their own futures and the futures of their children.

That said, there are some matters where friendly negotiation is impossible - perhaps because of a history of family abuse, infidelities or financial indiscretions. When our clients need forceful litigation of family law matters, each of our lawyers have more than 30 years of courtroom experience that they bring to bear on the cases of our family law clients'.

Our firm is available to help clients throughout Northeast Ohio with a range of family law matters, including:

  • Divorce: We handle legal separations, contested and uncontested divorces, and dissolution of marriage, whether or not children are involved. We help our clients with valuation and equitable division of assets and debts, child custody, child support, parenting time and spousal support (alimony).
  • Unmarried couples: Parents have rights and responsibilities regarding children they have, whether or not the parents are married. Our lawyers help parents file paternity actions, obtain parental rights such as parenting time or shared parenting (joint custody), and get child support from the noncustodial parent of the child.
  • Stepparent adoptions: When parents divorce and remarry, the new stepparent may want to adopt the child of the previous marriage. Stepparent adoptions are relatively easy in Ohio, if both the child's natural parents consent to the adoption or if the other natural parent has not communicated with the child or financially supported the child for one year before the adoption petition is filed. Stepparent adoptions are a serious decision, and your family should consider consulting a qualified family law attorney before filing the petition.
